Silver ski goggles with mirrored lenses

Reuben Silver and Claude Silver are Corlin’s two silver ski goggles. Both come with a mirrored Category 3 lens.

The reflective surface gives the silver lens its distinctive look, while the lens category indicates how much visible light passes through.

The frame and lens are separate components. This means you can keep the silver frame and switch to another lens when the light changes.

Reuben Silver and Claude Silver

Silver is available in both Corlin ski goggle models: Reuben and Claude. They share the same core functionality but differ in shape and the lenses they are compatible with.

Your choice between the two therefore comes down primarily to the shape and design you prefer. Reuben and Claude lenses are not interchangeable.

Mirrored Category 3 lenses

Reuben Lens Silver and Claude Lens Silver are both Category 3 lenses. Under EN ISO 12312-1:2022, this corresponds to visible light transmission of 8–18%, making them suitable for bright and sunny conditions.

Both silver lenses also feature a mirrored surface that creates their reflective finish.

Lens category, mirror finish and UV protection describe different properties of a lens. A mirrored lens is therefore not automatically darker, nor does it automatically offer greater UV protection.

Every Corlin lens offers UV400 protection, regardless of colour, finish or lens category.

More mirrored lenses

Silver is the mirrored lens colour available for both Reuben and Claude.

For Reuben, Reuben Lens Revo Orange and Reuben Lens Light Blue are also available with a mirrored finish.

This gives Reuben several colour options if you prefer a reflective lens, while Silver is the mirrored option for Claude.

Silver or black – which Category 3 lens should you choose?

Both the black and silver lenses are Category 3 and designed for bright and sunny conditions. The most noticeable difference is the finish.

Silver has a reflective mirrored surface for a more distinctive look.

Black has a neutral tint without a mirror finish for a more understated look.

Since both options belong to the same lens category, the choice between black and silver comes down primarily to which finish you prefer.

When the light gets weaker, lens category becomes more important than finish. In those conditions, we recommend switching to a lighter lens.

When should you use a silver lens?

The silver Category 3 lenses are designed for bright and sunny days on the mountain.

For overcast weather, snowfall or lower visibility, a lighter lens is a better choice. Orange and pink Category 1 lenses allow more visible light through and are designed for lower-light conditions.

For night skiing on illuminated slopes, clear lenses are also available.

Pairing your silver lens with a lighter spare lens gives you greater flexibility when conditions change throughout the day or season.

How to change the lens

Magnets in the frame hold the lens securely in place. Lift it off and position the next lens – the change takes only seconds and can be done while wearing ski gloves.

We recommend handling mirrored lenses by the edges when changing them to help avoid fingerprints on the surface.

Questions about silver ski goggles

What is the difference between a silver ski goggle frame and a silver lens?

The silver frame determines the base colour of the goggle. Reuben Silver and Claude Silver both have silver-coloured frames.

The silver lens is the interchangeable mirrored lens in front of your eyes. Reuben Lens Silver and Claude Lens Silver are both Category 3.

Because the lenses are magnetic and interchangeable, you can keep your silver frame and switch to another lens within the same model family.

Are Corlin’s silver ski goggle lenses mirrored?

Yes. Reuben Lens Silver and Claude Lens Silver both feature a mirror finish and are Category 3 lenses.

Reuben is also available with other mirrored lenses, including Revo Orange and Light Blue.

Is a mirrored lens better in bright sunlight than a regular tinted lens?

Not necessarily. Lens category and visible light transmission are the main factors determining how much visible light passes through a lens.

Corlin’s black and silver lenses are both Category 3. The choice between them therefore comes down primarily to the finish and look you prefer.

Can I use a silver lens with any Corlin ski goggle?

No. Reuben and Claude use different lens shapes.

Reuben Lens Silver fits all Reuben frames, while Claude Lens Silver fits all Claude frames. Lenses cannot be swapped between the two models.

Do silver lenses work in overcast conditions?

The silver lenses are Category 3 and primarily designed for bright and sunny conditions.

When the light gets weaker, we recommend switching to a lighter lens, such as an orange or pink Category 1 lens. These allow more visible light through and are better suited to overcast weather and snowfall.

Can I use the silver lens for night skiing?

We do not recommend a Category 3 lens for night skiing. For skiing on illuminated slopes after dark, a clear lens is a better option.

Do the silver lenses offer UV protection?

Yes. Every Corlin lens offers UV400 protection.

UV protection, lens category and mirror finish are separate properties. A mirrored or darker lens does not automatically provide greater UV protection.

Can I use silver ski goggles for snowboarding?

Yes. Reuben and Claude are suitable for both skiing and snowboarding. The same fundamentals apply to both: a comfortable fit, UV protection and a lens suited to the current light conditions.

What comes with Corlin silver ski goggles?

Reuben Silver and Claude Silver come with a mirrored Category 3 lens fitted and a protective case.
