What are large glasses?

Large glasses, or oversized glasses, have bigger lenses than a regular frame and take up more space on the face. That can mean tall lenses, wide lenses or a wide frame overall. Which large glasses should I choose?

Large can mean different things. Look at the lens height if you want the frame to cover more of your face, and at the total width if you have a wide face.

Who do large glasses suit?

Large glasses suit long faces especially well, because tall lenses cover more of the length of the face and create balance. They also suit anyone who wants their glasses to be a clear part of their style.

If you have a small or narrow face, a large frame can easily take over. What matters most is that the frame is not wider than your face. Kim and Gelo have large lenses but a total width of 140 millimeters, so they suit more people than you might think. Will is the widest, 145 millimeters in total.

Do large glasses get thick with a prescription?

Large glasses work well with a prescription. You get a wide field of view, because the lenses cover more of what you see.

If you have a strong prescription, large lenses can get thicker at the edges, especially if you are nearsighted. A slightly smaller frame can then be a better choice. Ask your optician if you are unsure.
