What are magnetic ski goggles?

Magnetic ski goggles use magnets integrated into the frame to hold the lens securely in place. Unlike traditional clip-in systems, the lens can be removed and replaced in seconds, making it easy to adapt your goggles to changing light and weather conditions.

Corlin offers two magnetic ski goggle models: Reuben and Claude. Both use the same magnetic lens system, with lenses specifically designed for each frame.

Magnetic ski goggles: Reuben and Claude

Corlin offers two magnetic ski goggle models, Reuben and Claude. Both feature Italian magnetic lenses, come with a Category 3 lens fitted and are available at the same price.

The main difference is the shape and design of the frame, as well as the range of compatible lenses.

Reuben is available with 10 interchangeable magnetic lenses.

Claude is available with 9 interchangeable magnetic lenses.

A page for each color

Both frames come in black, silver and brown, and Reuben also comes in orange and beige. Each color has its own page: black ski goggles, silver ski goggles, brown ski goggles, orange ski goggles and beige ski goggles.

Both frames are unisex and one size, with no separate cut for women or men – see women's ski goggles or men's ski goggles.

Which magnetic lenses fit Reuben and Claude?

Reuben and Claude use different lens shapes, so lenses are not interchangeable between the two models.

Reuben lenses fit Reuben frames.

Claude lenses fit Claude frames.

There are 10 magnetic lenses available for Reuben and 9 for Claude, with options for everything from bright sunshine to low-light conditions and night skiing.

When ordering an additional lens, simply choose the lens designed for your Corlin model.

Buying ski goggles with an extra lens

If you already know that you want more than one lens, our ski bundles combine a Reuben frame with an additional magnetic lens.

This gives you two lenses for different light conditions from the start, while offering better value than purchasing each item separately.

How to change a magnetic ski goggle lens

Changing a Corlin magnetic lens takes only a few seconds and requires no tools.

Magnets integrated into the frame and lens guide the lens into the correct position.

01

Remove

Hold the frame at the edges and gently lift the lens away from the frame. The lens releases directly from the magnetic attachment points.

02

Position

Hold the replacement lens in front of the frame and bring it towards the magnetic attachment points.

03

Secure

Allow the magnets to guide the lens into position and check that it sits evenly against the frame.

Your goggles are now ready for the new light conditions.

Do magnetic ski goggle lenses stay securely in place?

Yes. Corlin’s magnetic lens system is designed to keep the lens securely positioned during skiing.

The magnets hold the lens against the frame, while the shape of the frame helps keep it correctly positioned.

As with any ski goggles, the lens and frame should be checked after a significant impact. Before attaching a lens, also make sure the contact area between the frame and lens is free from snow and ice.

Magnetic vs clip-in ski goggle lenses

Both magnetic and traditional clip-in systems allow you to change lenses. The main difference is how quickly and easily the lens can be changed.

A magnetic lens can be removed and replaced in seconds without tools and can easily be changed while wearing gloves. Traditional clip-in lenses generally require more handling to align and secure the lens correctly.

This makes magnetic lenses particularly useful when conditions change during the day and you want to switch between lenses for sun, cloud, snowfall or night skiing.

Magnetic Clip-in Changing a lens Magnetic: Lift the lens away from the frame Clip-in: Unclip the lens from the frame Fitting a lens Magnetic: The magnets guide it into position Clip-in: Aligned and secured by hand Time required Magnetic: A few seconds Clip-in: Generally longer With gloves on Magnetic: Designed to be possible Clip-in: Usually requires more handling What holds the lens Magnetic: Magnets integrated into the frame and lens Clip-in: Mechanical clips Before fitting Magnetic: Check that the contact area is free from snow and ice Clip-in: Check that the clips and channel are clear

Questions about magnetic ski goggles

Are magnetic ski goggles worth it?

If you regularly ski in changing light conditions, magnetic ski goggles make it significantly easier to adapt your lens throughout the day.

Instead of carrying a second pair of goggles, you can bring an additional lens and switch between them in seconds.

If you mainly ski in bright and sunny conditions, the Category 3 lens included with every Corlin ski goggle may be all you need.

Can I use Claude lenses on Reuben goggles?

No. Reuben and Claude have different lens shapes.

Reuben lenses are designed exclusively for Reuben frames, while Claude lenses are designed exclusively for Claude frames.

There are 10 magnetic lenses available for Reuben and 9 for Claude.

Do magnetic lenses from other brands fit Corlin ski goggles?

No. Corlin lenses are specifically designed for their corresponding Corlin frames.

The position of the magnets, shape and curvature of each lens are designed to match the frame. We therefore recommend using only Corlin lenses with Corlin ski goggles.

How long does it take to change a magnetic lens?

Only a few seconds.

Simply remove the existing lens, position the replacement lens against the frame and allow the magnets to guide it into place. No tools, clips or adjustments are required.

Can I change a magnetic lens while wearing gloves?

Yes. The magnetic system is designed to make it possible to change lenses while wearing ski gloves.

This makes it easy to switch lenses when weather or light conditions change during the day.

Which lens comes with Corlin ski goggles?

Every Reuben and Claude frame comes with a Category 3 magnetic lens fitted as standard.

Category 3 is designed for bright and sunny conditions. Additional lenses for different light conditions are available separately.

Which lens should I use in low light or at night?

For cloudy weather, snowfall and low-light conditions, we recommend a Category 1 lens in orange or pink. These lenses allow more light through and are designed to increase contrast when visibility is reduced.

For night skiing on illuminated slopes, choose a clear lens.

Category 2 sits between Category 1 and 3 and is a versatile option for mixed and changing light conditions.

Do magnetic ski goggle lenses have UV protection?

Yes. All Corlin magnetic lenses provide UV400 protection, including our clear lenses.

UV protection and lens darkness are separate properties. A darker lens does not necessarily provide greater UV protection – it simply allows less visible light through.

Do magnetic ski goggles fog up?

All ski goggles can fog under certain conditions. Corlin lenses feature an anti-fog coating, while the frames are designed with ventilation to support airflow behind the lens.

To reduce fogging, keep the area between the lens and frame free from snow and avoid wiping the inside of a wet lens. Allow it to dry before cleaning.

How should I clean and store a magnetic lens?

Hold the lens by its edges whenever possible and avoid touching the inside surface.

If the inside of the lens becomes wet, allow it to dry naturally before cleaning. This helps protect the anti-fog coating.

When not in use, store the lens in its protective case.

What comes with Corlin ski goggles?

Every pair includes the ski goggles with a Category 3 magnetic lens fitted and a protective faux-leather case.
