Tinted glasses have lenses with a light color tone that softens the light slightly and gives the glasses a look of their own. Our tinted glasses come with grey or gradient brown lenses with a blue light filter, cost 1 299 SEK with both frame and lenses, and can be returned within 30 days.
What are tinted glasses?
Tinted glasses are glasses with lenses that have a light color tone, usually grey or brown. Unlike sunglasses, the tone is light enough to wear both indoors and outdoors. The lenses can be a solid tone or a gradient, darker at the top and lighter at the bottom. At Corlin, our tinted glasses are non-prescription Blue Light models with a blue light filter in the lenses. What colors do tinted lenses come in?
The color affects both how the glasses look and how you see the world through them. The most common colors are grey and brown.
What is the difference between tinted glasses, sunglasses and photochromic lenses?
All three have lenses that soften the light, but in different ways and for different situations.

How dark are tinted glasses?
How dark lenses are is given in filter categories from 0 to 4, under the EN ISO 12312-1 standard. Lightly tinted glasses are usually in the lower categories, while regular sunglasses are in category 3.

Can you drive with tinted glasses?
In daylight, you can drive with tinted glasses in category 0 to 3. Lenses in category 4 let through too little light and are not allowed for driving.
When it is dark, at dusk or in tunnels, you need all the light you can get. Clear lenses are then the safest choice, since tinted lenses always soften some of the light.
Why choose tinted glasses?
Many people choose tinted glasses for the look. A light grey or brown tone makes the glasses part of your style in a way clear lenses do not, without hiding your eyes like sunglasses.
The tint also softens the light slightly, which can feel good in brightly lit rooms, in cloudy weather or if you are sensitive to light. Since our tinted lenses have a blue light filter, they also work well when you sit at a screen.
Tinted glasses do not replace sunglasses in strong sunlight, but they are a good in-between for everyday life.

Can I get tinted lenses with a prescription?
Our tinted glasses currently come without a prescription. If you need prescription lenses and want them to tint in the sun, you can choose photochromic lenses in any of our optical frames instead.
Photochromic lenses are clear indoors and darken when you step out into the sun. If the frame has tinted lenses to begin with, the lenses keep the same color when they darken.
Questions about tinted glasses
Are tinted glasses the same as sunglasses?
No. Tinted glasses have a light color tone you can wear both indoors and outdoors. Sunglasses have dark lenses made for strong sunlight.
Which tint color should I choose?
Grey lenses soften the light without changing colors and give a neutral look. Brown lenses give a warmer tone. Gradient brown lenses are darker at the top and lighter at the bottom, which gives a clear view when you look down.
Can you wear tinted glasses indoors?
Yes. Lightly tinted glasses are made to work indoors too, for example at the office or at home.
Can you drive at night with tinted glasses?
It is not recommended. Tinted lenses always soften some of the light, so in the dark and at dusk clear lenses are the safest choice.
What does gradient mean on glasses?
Gradient means the lens is darker at the top and gradually gets lighter towards the bottom. It softens light from above but gives a clear view when you look down.
Do your tinted glasses have a blue light filter?
Yes. All our tinted glasses are Blue Light models with a blue light filter in the lenses.
