What are computer glasses?
Computer glasses are glasses with lenses made for the intermediate distance to a screen, roughly an arm’s length away. Regular glasses are usually made for seeing far or near, which is why a screen can look blurry or feel tiring with them. Who needs computer glasses?
Computer glasses suit you if you spend many hours at a computer or screen and do not see sharply and comfortably at screen distance with your regular glasses.
The need becomes more common with age. From around 40–45, most people find it harder to focus up close, and the screen then falls between what reading glasses and distance glasses are made for. If you wear progressive glasses, the zone for intermediate distance is often narrow, so you tilt your head to find focus.
Common signs are a screen that looks blurry, tired eyes, or tilting your head back or forward to see. If that sounds familiar, an eye exam at an optician will show whether computer glasses are right for you.

Computer glasses and regular prescription glasses are made for different distances. The table shows the difference, including where computer glasses fall short.
Are computer glasses the same as blue light glasses?
No. Computer glasses have prescription lenses that let you see sharply at screen distance. Blue light glasses have a filter that removes part of the blue-violet light, but they do not correct your vision.
What makes a difference at the screen is the right strength at the right distance, which is exactly what Terminal lenses are made for.
If you want a blue light filter, you can combine Terminal lenses with the Blue Light lens function for 300 SEK extra. If you do not need a prescription, our Blue Light glasses have clear lenses with a filter.
Does your employer pay for computer glasses?
Often, yes. EU rules on screen work (Directive 90/270/EEC) require employers to offer eye tests to people who work at screens, and to provide special glasses when a test shows they are needed and regular glasses cannot be used. How this is applied varies between countries.
In Sweden, the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s regulations (AFS 2023:11) apply to anyone who normally works at a screen for more than one hour a day. The employer only has to pay for the cheapest acceptable frames, so a more expensive frame can mean you pay the difference yourself.
In practice it varies between workplaces. Some employers have agreements with specific opticians, while others reimburse glasses you buy yourself.

2. Choose prescription lenses and the Terminal lens type
Choose to order the frame with prescription lenses, then choose Terminal as the lens type.
3. Choose your lens function
Choose what the lens does on top of correcting your vision. Anti-reflective and scratch-resistant coating is always included.
4. Add your prescription and order
Upload your prescription as a file or enter the values by hand on the product page, in the same step as your lens choices. Tell your optician you want computer glasses, so the strength for screen distance is on your prescription. The glasses arrive in 6–12 days with free worldwide shipping.
Prescription glasses are made to your prescription and cannot be returned. If you are unsure about the fit, order the Blue Light version of the frame first, which can be returned within 30 days.

What are computer glasses?

Are there computer glasses without a prescription?
No, Terminal lenses are prescription lenses made for screen distance. If you are looking for screen glasses without a prescription, you are looking for blue light glasses, and we have those too. A blue light filter does not replace the right strength.
