Clear Ski Goggles

A clear ski goggle lens is designed for night skiing and very low-light conditions.

Corlin offers clear magnetic lenses for both Reuben and Claude. With no dark tint, the lens allows maximum visible light through when skiing under floodlights or in conditions with very little available light.

Both clear lenses offer UV400 protection, anti-fog treatment and a scratch-resistant coating.

Reuben Lens Clear, untinted magnetic ski goggle lens with UV400

What is a clear ski goggle lens for?

A clear ski goggle lens is designed for night skiing and very low-light conditions.

Without a dark tint, it allows more visible light through than any tinted lens in the range, which is what you want under floodlights. Why it works after dark

Clear Ski Goggle Lenses for Night Skiing

When skiing after dark, there is significantly less available light than during the day. A dark lens can make it more difficult to see changes in the snow and terrain.

A clear lens has no dark tint and is designed to let as much visible light through as possible, making it the preferred choice for skiing under floodlights and in very low-light conditions.

For daytime skiing, choose a tinted lens suited to the weather and light conditions.

Clear Lenses for Reuben and Claude

Corlin offers two clear magnetic ski goggle lenses:

Reuben Lens Clear
Clear magnetic lens for Reuben.

Claude Lens Clear
Clear magnetic lens for Claude.

The lenses are model-specific. Reuben lenses fit Reuben only, while Claude lenses fit Claude only.

Both lenses have UV400 protection, anti-fog treatment on the inside and a scratch-resistant coating on the outside.

Why Choose a Clear Lens for Night Skiing?

Ski goggle lenses are designed to manage different amounts of available light.

During bright, sunny conditions, a darker lens reduces the amount of visible light reaching your eyes. At night, the opposite is needed.

A clear lens has no dark tint, allowing significantly more visible light through than the Category 3 lens supplied with every Corlin ski goggle.

This makes a clear lens particularly well suited to floodlit slopes and night skiing.

Clear vs Category 1 Ski Goggle Lenses

A clear lens and a Category 1 lens are both intended for conditions with less available light, but they serve different purposes.

Clear lenses are designed for night skiing and very low-light conditions.

Category 1 lenses in Pink or Orange are designed for overcast weather, snowfall and reduced visibility during the day.

Which one, in one line

If you are skiing in cloudy daytime conditions, choose Category 1. If you are skiing after dark under floodlights, choose Clear. For a complete overview, see our Ski Goggle Lens Guide

UV400 Protection in a Clear Lens

A lens does not need to be dark to provide UV protection.

Both Corlin clear ski goggle lenses offer UV400 protection, just like the tinted lenses in the collection.

The difference is the amount of visible light the lens allows through. A clear lens is designed for maximum visibility in very low light rather than reducing brightness and glare.

Magnetic Clear Ski Goggle Lenses

The clear lenses use the same magnetic system as the rest of the Corlin ski goggle collection.

When the light changes, remove the existing lens and position the clear lens against the frame. The magnetic system allows the lens to be changed in seconds without tools, including while wearing gloves.

This means you can use a tinted lens during the day and switch to Clear when skiing after dark.

Anti-Fog Treatment for Night Skiing

Both clear lenses have the same anti-fog treatment as the other magnetic lenses in the Corlin collection.

The treatment is applied to the inside of the lens and helps reduce condensation.

Proper ventilation and allowing your goggles to dry between uses also help reduce fogging, particularly during cold evenings.

For more information, see our Anti-Fog Ski Goggles guide.

Clear, Transparent or Untinted Ski Goggles?

Clear, transparent and untinted are different ways of describing the same type of ski goggle lens: a lens without a dark tint.

At Corlin, we use the term Clear.

Reuben Lens Clear fits Reuben, while Claude Lens Clear fits Claude. The two lens systems are not interchangeable.

Questions About Clear Ski Goggles

What are clear ski goggle lenses used for?

Clear ski goggle lenses are primarily designed for night skiing and very low-light conditions.

Without a dark tint, they allow more visible light through than tinted ski goggle lenses.

Are clear ski goggles good for night skiing?

Yes. A clear lens is the best choice in the Corlin lens range for skiing after dark under floodlights.

It is designed to maximise the amount of available visible light reaching your eyes.

Can I use a clear ski goggle lens during the day?

A clear lens can be used during the day, but it is designed for very low-light conditions and night skiing.

For daytime skiing, we recommend choosing a tinted lens based on the conditions: Category 3 for bright sunlight, Category 2 for changing light and Category 1 for cloudy weather, snowfall and reduced visibility.

What is the difference between Clear and Category 1?

Clear has no dark tint and is intended primarily for night skiing and very low-light conditions.

Category 1 lenses have a light tint and are designed for cloudy weather, snowfall and reduced visibility during the day.

Do clear ski goggle lenses have UV protection?

Yes. Both Corlin clear lenses offer UV400 protection.

UV protection and visible tint are separate characteristics, so a lens can be completely clear while still providing UV protection.

Which clear lens fits my ski goggles?

Reuben Lens Clear fits Reuben.

Claude Lens Clear fits Claude.

The lenses are model-specific and cannot be used interchangeably.

Do clear lenses have anti-fog treatment?

Yes. Both clear Corlin lenses have anti-fog treatment on the inside and a scratch-resistant coating on the outside.

Can I change from a daytime lens to Clear?

Yes. Reuben and Claude use magnetic interchangeable lenses.

You can use a tinted lens during the day and change to the compatible Clear lens when skiing after dark.
