Are snowboard goggles different from ski goggles?

Snowboard goggles and ski goggles are essentially designed for the same purpose: protecting your eyes while providing clear vision across changing weather and light conditions.

The main features to consider are therefore the same for both skiing and snowboarding – fit, ventilation, lens technology and the ability to adapt your lens to the conditions.

Both Corlin models are designed for skiing and snowboarding. See both frames

Corlin snowboard goggles: Reuben and Claude

Corlin offers two models, Reuben and Claude.

Reuben is available in five colours and is compatible with 10 magnetic lenses. The interchangeable strap system also allows you to choose between seven different straps.

Claude is available in three colours and is compatible with 9 magnetic lenses.

Both models come with a Category 3 lens fitted as standard and feature UV400 protection, anti-fog treatment and magnetic lens technology.

Riding a specific color

The five Reuben colors are black, silver, brown, orange and beige; Claude comes in the first three of those. Each one has a page of its own, with the lenses that suit it: black, silver, brown, orange and beige.

Magnetic lenses for changing conditions

Weather and visibility can change quickly in the mountains. Corlin's magnetic lens system allows you to change lenses in seconds without tools – even while wearing gloves.

Each model has its own compatible lens system:

Reuben: 10 magnetic lenses
Claude: 9 magnetic lenses

The lenses are model-specific, so Reuben lenses fit Reuben and Claude lenses fit Claude.

Choose your lens according to the light and weather conditions rather than whether you are skiing or snowboarding.

Which snowboard goggle lens should you choose?

Different lens categories are designed for different light conditions.

Category 3 – Bright and sunny conditions
A darker lens designed for strong daylight. Every pair of Corlin snowboard goggles comes with a Category 3 lens fitted.

Category 2 – Changing conditions
A versatile option for days with a mixture of sun and cloud.

Category 1 – Cloudy weather, snowfall and reduced visibility
Orange and pink lenses allow more visible light through and feature contrast-enhancing tints that help make terrain easier to distinguish in lower light.

Clear lens – Night riding and very low light
An untinted lens designed for night skiing and snowboarding or other very low-light conditions.

Explore our Ski Goggle Lens Guide for a complete overview of lens categories and light conditions.

Snowboard goggles for cloudy and low-light conditions

Cloud, snowfall and shaded terrain can make contours in the snow more difficult to distinguish.

For these conditions, we recommend a Category 1 lens in orange or pink. These lenses allow more visible light through than a Category 3 lens and feature a contrast-enhancing tint designed for lower-light conditions.

If you regularly ride in both bright and cloudy conditions, combining the Category 3 lens included with your goggles with a Category 1 lens gives you two options for distinctly different light conditions.

Snowboard goggles for night riding

For night riding and floodlit slopes, choose a clear lens.

The clear lens has no tint, allowing maximum available light through while still providing UV400 protection.

Clear magnetic lenses are available for both Reuben and Claude.

Snowboard goggles and helmets

Both Reuben and Claude are designed to be worn with ski and snowboard helmets.

The adjustable elastic straps allow the fit to be adapted to different helmet sizes and shapes. Reuben also features interchangeable straps, available separately in seven colours.

For the best fit, the goggles should sit securely against your face while the upper edge meets the helmet naturally without blocking the ventilation openings.

Anti-fog snowboard goggles

All Corlin magnetic lenses feature an anti-fog treatment on the inside.

Reuben and Claude are also designed with ventilation that supports airflow behind the lens, helping to reduce condensation while riding.

Keeping the ventilation openings clear and allowing your goggles to dry properly after use also helps reduce the risk of fogging.

Questions about snowboard goggles

Is there a difference between ski goggles and snowboard goggles?

Not in terms of their fundamental function.

Both are designed to protect your eyes, provide clear vision and work with a helmet in changing mountain conditions.

Corlin's Reuben and Claude models are designed for both skiing and snowboarding.

Does Corlin make goggles specifically for snowboarding?

Reuben and Claude are designed for both skiing and snowboarding rather than as separate sport-specific models.

The important choice is the model, fit and lens you prefer for the conditions in which you ride.

Which lens is best for snowboarding in cloudy weather?

For cloudy weather, snowfall and reduced visibility, we recommend a Category 1 lens in orange or pink.

These lenses allow more visible light through than a Category 3 lens and feature a contrast-enhancing tint designed for lower-light conditions.

Which lens should I use for snowboarding at night?

Choose a clear lens for night riding and floodlit slopes.

The clear lens has no tint and is designed to maximise the available light while still providing UV400 protection.

Can I change the lens on Corlin snowboard goggles?

Yes. Both Reuben and Claude use interchangeable magnetic lenses that can be changed in seconds without tools.

Reuben is compatible with 10 magnetic lenses and Claude with 9. The two lens systems are model-specific and cannot be used interchangeably.

Do Corlin snowboard goggles work with helmets?

Yes. Both Reuben and Claude are designed to be worn with ski and snowboard helmets and feature adjustable elastic straps.

Because helmet shapes vary, the exact fit between the helmet and the upper edge of the goggles can differ between combinations.

Are Corlin snowboard goggles anti-fog?

All Corlin magnetic lenses feature an anti-fog treatment on the inside.

Both Reuben and Claude also feature ventilation designed to support airflow behind the lens. Anti-fog treatment reduces the risk of condensation but cannot guarantee that goggles will remain completely fog-free in every condition.

Can I use the same goggles for skiing and snowboarding?

Yes. Reuben and Claude are designed for both sports.

There is no need for separate ski and snowboard goggles. Instead, changing the lens according to the weather and light conditions allows you to use the same goggles across different days on the mountain.
